Burning Hearts is a camp for anyone who is awake to the climate and ecological crisis, whether you are a seasoned activist or just beginning your journey. It is an invitation to acknowledge together the deeply ravaging impact on our hearts. It is also an invitation to be part of creating positive change, to find our power, our voice and our engaged response. It is a celebration of life in the face of extinction.
Central to the camp’s vision is bringing the power of imagination and creativity to the climate and ecological crisis. Activities will include singing, poetry, theatre, storytelling, art, ceremony, meditation and Qigong, nature connection, woodland and moorland walks as well as talks, trainings and workshops. Its intention is to uplift, inspire and empower. And despite the sombreness of the theme, we intend to have some fun too!
Contributors will include Rob Hopkins, author and founder of Transition Town Totnes and Transition Network, Tarte Noire Playback Theatre Company, storytellers Rebecca Smart, and Chris Salisbury from Wildwise, voice and movement facilitator Eliza Kenyon, bringer of song Holly Ebony from Wild Birds Singing and The Feral Chorus, Buddhist teacher and Extinction Rebellion activist Yanai Postelnik and more contributors to be confirmed as this new camp evolves.
There will be a team of people offering activities for children and a team making sure the kitchen is a friendly nourishing hub. Everyone shares in the cooking and general running of the camp, getting to know each another through shared work.
Burning Hearts is a place to be together with those who share your values and passions, a place where you can build connection and community, a place to learn and practise resilience. The venue is the beautiful [Holy Brook Meadows](http://www.holybrookmeadows.co.uk) on southern Dartmoor.
Volunteer places are available for anyone interested in working in the childrens, kitchen or site teams. Preference will be given to those who have filled similar roles on previous camps and those with relevant experience but enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck in are also welcome qualifications.
